SUMMARY:ONLINE: Responsible Researcher series 3: Responsible Authorship and Publication Practices
DESCRIPTION: \n\nAbout this workshop\n\nThis workshop will give you a brief 
 overview of different types of problematic authorship practices and 
 approaches to address them. It will also\, briefly\, consider predatory 
 publishers and give you tips to identify and avoid these outlets.\n\n\n\nBy 
 participating in this workshop you will empower yourself with both 
 knowledge and tools that you can utilise to strengthen your own research 
 and to develop and deliver responsible research projects. It will also 
 allow you to critically assess your publication options and make an 
 informed decision as to which avenues are suitable for valid dissemination 
 of research outputs.\n\n\n\nThis is the third in a 5-part workshop series 
 which we encourage you to take as a complete set.\n\n \n\nAbout the 
 presenter\n\nPaula Saner\, Manager: Office of Research Integrity 
 (ORI)\n\nPaula has been based in the ORI since 2014 and has been 
 responsible for developing and delivering both branches (synchronous and 
 asynchronous) of the institution’s responsible conduct of research (RCR)

 \n\nWhile the workshop is aimed at certain levels of study and faculties\, 
 anyone is welcome to join\, as long as any stipulated requirements are 
 met\, such as participation and/or preparation.\n\n 
 \n\nRequirements\n\n\n	\n		\n			\n			Preparation for the 
 workshop\n\n			\n			\n			\n			Module 3 of the ORI’s online RCR training 
 programme\; available via www.successfactors.uct.ac.za.\n\n			Participants 
 should be prepared to actively engage in collaborative activities via a 
 range of tools (e.g.\, Mentimeter or post-its and flipcharts) and should 
 bring a device that enables use of these tools during the seminar (e.g. 
 laptop or smart phone). Physical stationery will be supplied for some 
 activities.\n			\n		\n		\n			\n			Level of participation at the 
 workshop\n\n			\n			\n			Participants will be expected to actively engage 
 in workshop exercises\, discussions and 
 deliberations.\n		\n		\n			Registration\n			\n			When registering for this
