IN PERSON & INTERACTIVE: How to present your conference paper and/or poster based on your research (Humanities & Social Sciences) Part Two

 

About this workshop

This workshop welcomes any student, staff or emerging researcher in the Humanities and Social Sciences, who would like to learn how to do an oral presentation of their conference paper.

After input on the process of designing an oral presentation, the workshop space gives participants the chance to write a quick abstract, and story an oral presentation, under guidance.  Participants are encouraged to test out these presentations to get feedback from other participants.  No one will be pressured to do so however!

You will leave feeling confident about tackling a presentation.

 

* Due to UCT being a contact university and with Covid restrictions easing, the second part of this workshop series is now only being offered in person in semester 2.

About the presenter

Ms. Bastienne Klein, Academic Mentor and PhD Candidate

Has mentored students to write thesis arguments on this programme since 2012, and privately ongoing, through her mentoring consultancy.

* Although this workshop is for Humanities students, anyone who wants to work on a conference or poster presentation skill is most welcome.  This workshop cannot assist those students outside of the humanities disciplines.

Please bring the following with you:

  • Your laptop
  • Content of a presentation you’d like to make or ideas towards one.

Level of participation at the workshop

This is a face-to-face and interactive workshop.  A PDF of the presentation will be shared with those who have attended and participated for the entire workshop time.
