ONLINE: Kick start writing your thesis argument in 3 hours (Humanities and Social Sciences) (Part One)

Description

 

Whether you have just registered, are starting out, haven't written a word yet, or cutting a wordcount, students at any stage of their writing are welcome to our online workshop. This session is open to anybody in the Humanities and Social Sciences, for those writing a prose thesis that requires some form of argument or hypothesis.

This three-hour workshop is designed to assist you write your thesis argument statement, and map it across a thesis structure. You will acquire critical thinking skills, the academic tools to build confidence to sustain a thesis argument over a short or long thesis/dissertation.

 

The workshop will be hands-on, and practical in application. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Formulate your thesis/dissertation research question;
  • Take an academic position and write an argument statement or hypothesis;
  • Develop supporting assumptions and draw some academic conclusions;
  • Structure your thesis sections and chapters.

You are invited to bring your ideas, proposals, provisional research questions, any thesis research concepts you would like to explore.
