Postgraduate Supervision Training [for postdoctoral fellows]
Most Postdoctoral Fellows find themselves involved in both co- and supervision of a variety of Postgraduate students, ranging from Honours, to Masters and Doctoral students. By virtue of their focus on research and possible further pathway in an academic career, this is a natural and expected part of a Postdoc’s development.
This one day workshop offers UCT Postdocs opportunity to engage in understanding postgraduate student needs and good supervision practises, within the UCT system (which is not unlike most other university systems).
Presenters and facilitators drawn from within UCT will present and interact with Postdocs in an interactive and informative programme.
This is intended for Postdocs who have not yet had opportunity to attend this or similar workshops (the last one was in October 2018) and will be followed later in the year by two further workshops aimed at academic development on Postdocs. One will focus on Teaching and lecturing skills, and a third on Grant-writing and career development.
