ONLINE: Revision Workshop: Strategies for Editing & Revising your Dissertation

 

About this workshop

This hands-on webinar aims to present senior postgraduate students with understanding the role and purpose of feedback, both peer and supervisory.  The focus of the webinar is in getting to grips with the editing and revising writing process, and aims to provide students with strategies for integrating feedback, as well as techniques to confidently review paragraphing, sentence structure and grammar for clarity, simplicity, and completeness.

 

About the presenter

Ms Tatenda Dandara, Writing Consultant, UCT Writing Centre, CHED

Tatenda is a senior Writing Consultant at the UCT Writing Centre with an academic background in sociolinguistics. She has extensive experience in facilitating academic writing and research workshops for all levels of study, this includes co-facilitating the Mellon Pipeline Development Programme (MPD) writing seminars; guest lecturing in the Department of African Studies and Linguistics; and co-facilitating the UCT Global Citizenship Program (GCP) GC2 course. ​Tatenda’s research focuses on semiotics, linguistic landscapes and language policy in higher education contexts.

Requirements

Preparation for the workshop

Students needs to come prepared with dissertation/chapters that have received comments and feedback, and who are wanting to submit final draft for submission.

Level of participation at the workshop

Students should be prepared to discuss and share some of your feedback experiences through academic review and scrutiny.  Bring examples and excerpts from proposal and feedback to engage with.
