IN PERSON: Lead from within: Mastering self-leadership to lead others (2-day workshop)
Leading others starts with self-leadership. This two-day workshop takes participants on a journey of self-awareness, self-reflection and application drawing on latest leadership and scientific approaches. This workshop is open to both postgraduate students and fellows and registrants would need to commit to attending on both days.
About the workshop
In a fast-changing volatile environment, the heroic leader sitting at the top of a vertical structure can no longer be expected to possess all the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure optimal organisational effectiveness.
Instead, today’s highly educated and motivated managers are more often encouraged to lead themselves and share critical leadership roles that were once filled by a traditional vertical leader. Not surprisingly, the concept of self-leadership has attracted considerable attention over the past two decades.
In this highly interactive workshop, participants will:
- Explore the concept of self-leadership and its relationship to leading others
- Enhance their self-awareness and leverage this to realise improved versions of themselves
- Demonstrate greater resilience and ability to handle setbacks
- Apply their understanding of intrinsic motivation to focus on enhancing autonomy, mastery, and purpose in themselves and their team members
- Identify areas of improvement in their leadership practices
- Discuss and identify their personal values
- Demonstrate understanding of self-leadership implications of some basic neuroscientific insights
