About this workshop

This Part 1 of two workshops on writing your research is for senior MA and PHD candidates, and is a hands-on, interactive session which aims to unpack the role and purpose of academic arguments in developing a strong thesis for research.  Students will engage with the concept of argumentation and the application of arguments to the key research questions of their study interest.  The workshop incorporates examining relevant literature associated with ones’ own study and connecting research questions to supportive literature.

About the presenter

Ms. Isabella Sinn, Writing Consultant, UCT Writing Centre, CHED

Isabella is a senior Writing Consultant at UCT Writing Centre and has extensive experience in facilitating academic writing and research workshops for all levels of study, this includes facilitating the MMUF Writing Circles and Writing to Post Graduate Completion Seminars.  Isabella completed her MA in Historical Studies, focussing on divorce and the family in the nineteenth-century Cape Colony, and is currently working on further research and publication.
