ONLINE: UCT Short Course: Research Writing in the Sciences (Thesis Writing), 19-22 August 2024

Course focus:
Research Writing in the Sciences is a (non-credit bearing) short course that aims to develop postgraduate students’ (master’s and PhD) literacies in science. We will be offering two short course iterations in 2024: one focusing on thesis writing and another on writing for publication. In this August 2024 iteration, we focus on thesis writing (in November 2024 we will focus on publication writing).


Course structure:
The course will be offered online and encompass interactive learning and engagement. You will have the opportunity to submit a written product of your choice for feedback from the course facilitators.
The course facilitators are Dr Natashia Muna (Coordinator: Health Sciences Writing Lab) and Sabirah Adams (Language Development Group, Academic Development Programme) from CHED at UCT.


Course date:
The course will take place from Mon 19 –Thurs 22 August 2024 between 09:00 – 14:00 on the Zoom platform. Course resources will be available on Vula.


Who can apply?
Postgraduate students (master’s and PhD) at UCT and other universities are welcome to apply for the course. Course applications are open until Tuesday 13 August 2024.
