IN PERSON: Writing a Thesis: What to do, and how to do it? (REPEAT)

 

About this workshop

This workshop is open to all students planning to embark on post graduate research.  The session aims to unravel the aim, audience, and purpose of a thesis dissertation.  It includes specific information on expectations, style, structure, and approaches required.  The workshop also addresses strategies for planning and preparing ideas to move from the research proposal stage into written research dissertation.

 

About the presenter

Ms. Isabella Sinn, Writing Consultant, UCT Writing Centre, CHED

Isabella is a senior Writing Consultant at UCT Writing Centre and has extensive experience in facilitating academic writing and research workshops for all levels of study, this includes facilitating the MMUF Writing Circles and Writing to Pos Graduate Completion Seminars.  Isabella completed her MA in Historical Studies, focussing on divorce and the family in the nineteenth-century Cape Colony, and is currently working on further research and publication.

While the workshop is aimed at certain levels of study and faculties, anyone is welcome to join, as long as any stipulated requirements are met, such as participation and/or preparation.

 

Requirements

Preparation for the workshop

Ideas, fields of interest, and questions for clarity and direction if already registered and submitted a proposal, and now ready to embark on research and writing at honours, masters or PhD level.

Level of participation at the workshop

A few individual activities, as well as big group discussions, and a Q and A session.
