ONLINE & PARTICIPATIVE: Locating yourself in big questions about higher education (Postdoc series 5)

About this workshop

In the postdoc series, we are building towards creating an academic portfolio which you can use for job applications, personal development and attracting research or teaching interest and partners. As part of this activity, we need to be able to locate ourselves in the big questions of the moment.  In this session, we will reflect on:

  1. The role of higher education in South Africa and globally;
  2. Key issues in the South African context, including transformation, decolonization, equity in relation to access and success;
  3. Key issues in the global context, particularly the recent rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), consideration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and competing frameworks.

This session will be useful for postdocs building their academic portfolios, and for anyone curious about ways of framing and locating their work in higher education.
