IN PERSON & PARTICIPATIVE: Becoming a confident Scientific Writer

 

About this workshop

This workshop will orientate students towards the research writing process and introduce them to important principals and practices for effective academic writing:

  • Establishing your writing process
  • The research writing process
  • Engaging with feedback and peer-review
  • Concept mapping your topic
  • Writing an introduction

This workshop (1 of 4) can be attended as a ‘standalone’ session; however, it is most valuably experienced as part of the full series, which navigates through the research process.

 

About the presenter

Dr. Natashia Muna, Senior Lecturer, Department of Health Sciences Education

Dr Muna is the Co-ordinator of the FHS Writing Lab.

While the workshop is aimed at certain levels of study and faculties, anyone is welcome to join, as long as any stipulated requirements are met, such as participation and/or preparation.

 

Requirements

Preparation for the workshop

Bring along a research topic or assignment question

Important to have a notebook and pen, laptops would be helpful

Level of participation at the workshop

I will regularly invite questions, comments and discussion during the session, and participants will be given activities to do. Following these, I may invite feedback from individuals

Registration
